Ingredients:
• 1 package of puff pastry sheets (thawed if frozen)
• 225g (8 oz) sausage (ground, or you can use sausage links and remove the casings)
• 225g (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
• 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
• 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
• Salt and pepper, to taste
• Optional: fresh herbs like chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Break it into small crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
3. Mix the Filling: In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage, cream cheese, and shredded cheddar cheese (if using). Season with a little salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
4. Prepare the Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into squares, about 3×3 inches in size (you can adjust the size based on your preference).
5. Fill and Fold: Place a spoonful of the sausage and cream cheese mixture in the center of each square. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal. You can crimp the edges with a fork to ensure they stay sealed during baking.
6. Brush with Egg Wash: Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each one with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
7. Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffy.
8. Garnish and Serve: Let the pastries cool slightly. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve warm.
Enjoy your savory sausage and cream cheese-filled pastries!
